A biome is a large, distinctive complex of plant communities created and maintained by climate. There are eight terrestrial biomes: 1) Tropical rainforests, 2) Savannas, 3) Deserts, 4) Chaparral, 5) Temperate grasslands, 6) Temperate forests, 7) Taiga (boreal forests), and 8) Arctic tundra.
