Small tracheal veins join the laryngeal vein or empty directly into the left inferior thyroid vein. The inferior thyroid veins arise as a venous plexus on the anterior surface of the isthmus of the thyroid gland. Left and right descending veins enter the respective brachiocephalic veins.
